Man, 44, docked over alleged N3.5m land fraud

One 44-year-old Victor Omoregbee, was on Wednesday docked in an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, for an alleged N3.5 million land fraud.

Omoregbee, whose address was not provided, was charged with obtaining money under false pretence and stealing, to which he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, ASP Anthony Igori told the court that the defendant committed the offences between Nov. 30, 2022 and Feb.27, at Akobo area, Ibadan.

Igori said the defendant fraudulently obtained the sum of N3.5m from one Kamaldeen Kadiri under the pretence of selling a plot of land to him knowing the same to be false.

He said the defendant rather made away with the money and converted it to his personal use.

Igori said the offences contravened Sections 419 and 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The Magistrate, Mr Olaolu Olanipekun, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N300, 000 with two reliable sureties in like sum.

Olanipekun held that one of the sureties must be a blood relation to the defendant.

He, thereafter, adjourned the case until Aug. 1, for hearing. (NAN
