An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Friday remanded a 26-year-old tailor, Idris Omotosho, for alleged conspiracy, possession of firearms, unlawful assembly, and intent to commit felony.

The Magistrate, Mrs O.O.Fajana, who did not take Omotosho’s plea, ordered that he should be remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre.

Fajana directed the police to send the case file to the state director of public prosecutions for advice.

The magistrate adjourned the case until Feb. 14 for mention.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. Kenrich Nomayo, told the court that the defendant committed the offences, with others still at large, on Dec. 24 about 11.30 p.m. at Alpha Beach in Ibeju Lekki, Lagos.

Nomayo alleged that the police caught the defendant with a locally-made gun, eight cartridges and one expended cartridge, with an intent to commit felony.

He alleged that the defendant also belonged to a secret society called ‘Eiye Confraternity’.

Nomayo said that the offences contravened Section 2 (3) and Sections 330(d), 298(3) and 411 of the Unlawful Societies and Cultism Law, 2021; and the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 respectively. (NAN)
