The Police in Lagos on Monday arraigned a 32-year-old man, Christian Nwani, before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court for alleged malicious damage and breach of public peace.
Nwani, whose address is unknown, is standing trial on a two-count charge of malicious damage and breach of peace.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, ASP Clément Okuoimose told the court that the defendant committed the offences sometime in 2021, at about 3:00 p.m, at Raimi Lawal Street, Jakande Ajangbadi area of Lagos.
Okuoimose said the defendant allegedly damaged the flat, three door frames and key valued at N55, 000 belonging to one Kelvin Richman, the complainant.
He said the defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of public peace by damaging the door frames and key.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 350 and 168 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Fadaunsi Adefioye, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50, 000, with one surety in like sum.
Adefioye adjourned the case until March 30 for mention. (NAN)
