The Commissioner of Police in Adamawa, Mr Abdullahi Yarima, said investigation was on-going over the alleged killing of farmers by a policeman.

The state Police Command on Thursday confirmed the arrest of the officer who was alleged to have shot seven farmers in Gombi Local Government Area of the state.

Yarima, at a news conference in Yola on Friday, said that as soon as the investigation was completed, the alleged killer would be charged to court.

“On my assumption in office, I inherited a case of criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide involving a senior police officer who allegedly perpetrated the unlawful killing of young persons at Gombi farm.

“The Gombi farm belongs to Sarkin Bakan Gombi,’’ Yarima said.

According to the CP, the officer and others involved have been arrested and detained.

“Investigation is on-going and as soon as it is completed, they will be arraigned in court of law for possible prosecution,’’ Yarima added.

Similarly, he said that another attack on Bang village in Numan area was reported on Friday.

He confirmed that the attack was carried out by suspected cattle rustlers.

He explained that the gunmen shot sporadically, forcing the villagers to flee into the bushes.

“The gunmen burnt down houses and made away with some cattle,’’ he said.

Yarima said that efforts were being made to get the culprits arrested and to recover the cattle.  (NAN)
