Gwagwarwa Students Association (GWASA) has launched its very promising program tagged “Back to School Campaign”. During launch some officials of the association marched together with pupils and students on streets that were cutting through Rafin Sale, Bulbula, Haye, Riga and Dorawa, at Gwagwarwa ward, in Nassarawa local government of Kano state metropolitan.
The chairman of (GWASA) Educational committee, Aliyyu Abdullah Muhammad said it was something that the community has never seen before. So, naturally, they came out and fed themselves with loaves of curiosity.
“The purpose of the program was to call the attention of parent and community stakeholders in Gwagwarwa Quarters to send their children back to school, especially the orphans, the secondary drop out and those who were less privileged to normal school system”, he said.
And he added that the association (GWASA) was going to strengthen its existing relationship with headmasters, principals and education stakeholders of the community to ensure the success of its program.
Isa Muhammad lungun ruwa, a resident of bulbula in Gwagwarwa ward, also a member of the board of trustee of GWASA, stated that due to the mass failure of student in West African Examination council (WAEC) in Kano state, Gwagwarwa ward had decided to form an association since 2004 that would minimize the mass failure through creating an extra moral lesion and establishing a relationship with the educational stakeholders at Gwagwarwa ward, in Nassarawa local government.
The patron of the association, a resident of Rafin sale, Alh Nura Hamisu said we would give all the needed support to them (GWASA), in order to see that the program achieve its success.
“The community stakeholder should work together to find a solution to the problem”, he added.
Speaking while the campaign, an elder of the community Alh Garba Bala said the root of this problem was lack of discipline and respect. However, if there was discipline and respect for elders, they would be able to control the younger ones in such way that they stay or going back to school, by this way so that the problem would be solved.
The rally made many stopovers at the homes and joints of some members of Gwagwarwa community. Important people like Dagacin Gwagwarwa, Alh Sanusi Aliyu, Magajin Garin Gwagwarwa, Alh Nuruddeen Lawan, Chairman K’ungiyar Raya Garin Gwagwarwa, Engr Alh Sani Roba identified with the campaign. Also, Hon Nura Memai, Mal Musa Inuwa a lecturer with FCE (T), Bichi, and a patron of the association, Alh Nura Hamisu, Mal Ukasha Mu’az a vice principal, Hon Mustapha Maikano, Alh Garba Bala and Mal Isa Lungun Ruwa welcomed and promised to support the initiative.
