Mr Adams Nangba, the District Head of Wakama in Nasarawa State, has advised politicians against recruiting youths as thugs, as 2019 general elections draw closer.
Nangba gave the advice on Monday at Akun, near Nasarawa Eggon, at the foundation laying ceremony of Wakama District Head Office complex in Akun Development Area of the state.
“Permit me to use this medium to call on politicians, who are here and away, that Wakama people are peace-loving people. We will not tolerate any politician who will come and recruit our youths as political thugs,“he warned.
He further advised politicians in the area to relate as brothers and sisters.
Nanbga said the office was designed to meet up with not just office accommodation but also a gallery where Wakama artifacts and crafts would be preserved.
The traditional leader thanked the state government, individuals and friends of the Akun nation for their supports toward the commencement of the N17 million project.
“We thank our paramount ruler of Akun Chiefdom, Alhaji Usman Umbugadu, the Aren Akun, who added value to this initiative by granting us the permission to embark on this project.
Umbugadu, the Aren Akun, while laying the foundation of the complex called on the people of the area to unite in the interest of peace and development and tolerate one another, irrespective of ethnic, religious and political affiliation.
Earlier, an Associate Prof., Francis Akawu of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, who is the Chairman, Planning Committee of the project said that the community embarked on the project for effective service delivery.
“The occupants of the office have been operating in their personal residential houses which is not convenient for them.It is on this note that the entire people of Wakama thought it wise to build a befitting edifice that will accommodate both the residence and office of the district head,” he said.
He appealed to the people to contribute positively for the building of the edifice. (NAN)
