Oputa’s legacies worthy of celebration-Obasanjo

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has commended efforts made by the organizers of the Justice Oputa Annual Conference (JOAC) for immortalizing the legacies of Late Justice Chukwudifu Oputa.

Obasanjo who delivered the keynote address at the event in Abuja on Tuesday, praised Late Justice Oputa, for his contributions to Nigerian democracy, adding that he (Oputa) is truly an individual worth celebrating.

“Justice Oputa was somebody whose life, his time, his legacies, are worthy of being celebrated and I want to thank you for laying an event like this, and for saying that it will be an annual event.”

The former president also congratulated the Oputa family, while highlighting some of the feats he achieved during his active years.

“…if anybody can claim to have worked with Justice Oputa, I can claim. And what he did (leave)  a mark. A mark that is indelible in our democratic process in binding the wounds of the events before the new democratic dispensation which started in 1999.”

He also thanked the organizers for inviting him to give the keynote address and for making him the grand patron of the Justice Oputa Annual Conference.

Justice Oputa Annual Conference is annual conference organized by the Justice Oputa Foundation, which is a non-profit organization, birthed in memory of late Justice Chukwudifu Oputa. The main objectives of the organization is to foster good governance, law and development across Nigeria and Africa.
