The government of Kano State has promised to reward the reigning Nigeria Professional League champions, Kano Pillars with a bumper package for successfully defending the title they won last season.
The Kano State Deputy Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje told newsmen on Sunday in Katsina-Ala that the government and the good people of Kano state are happy with the team for the feat, adding that the governor of the state, Dr. Rabiu Kwankwaso will reward the players and the officials handsomely.
“Today (Sunday) is a happy day for us; the government and people of Kano State for retaining the league we won last in the face of doubts. We have proved again that we are a club to reckon with in Nigeria Premier League, having defended our title successfully. Therefore, I want to tell you that the executive governor of Kano state, Dr Rabiu Kwankwaso will reward the players and the officials of Pillars handsomely,” he said.
However, the chairman of Pillars, Abah Yola announced N100,000 match bonus for the players and N150,000 for the officials despite losing the match to their hosts Lobi Stars who were at the verge of going on relegation before grabbing the most needed three points to stay in the league next season.
Pillars who stormed Katsina-Ala venue of the match with 60 buses and a large convoy of the state’s deputy governor, took over most part of the Chief Emmanuel Akume Atongo Stadium, but Banarbas Immenger jnr’s brace gave Lobi the most needed victory.
Newsdiaryonline Sports reports that Pillars and the second placed Enyimba International of Aba will represent the country in CAF Championship next year.
