The flagship of the Igbo in Spain under the aegis of Igbo Improvement Union, IIU, will this weekend, August 19 converge in Valencia to celebrate New Yam Festival and Igbo Cultural Day .
Former governor of Abia State and frontline crusader of Igbo inclusiveness at the centre of governance , Dr Orji Uzor Kalu is the Special Guest of Honour for the grand event, the Chairman of the IIU, Honourable Victor Ojeli has said.
According to him, “the event will take place on Saturday at 6 P.M at Parroquia de la Natividad de Nuestra Senora Garrel de Professor Enrique Tierno Galvan 1, 46100 Burjassot , Valencia .
He said Kalu as the Special Guest is expected to speak on unity of the Ndigbo in diaspora and also discuss modalities for the greater improvement of the Igbo race.
“There will be a display of heritage, arts, and culture of Ndigbo and also a conferment of honourary award to the former governor. The event will also draw audience from diplomats , government officials and members of other Nigerian socio-cultural groups.” He also said.
Just last weekend, Kalu performed a similar role in London when he honoured the invitation of Ndigbo for the launching of Igbo Community House London.
