Kaduna State Governor, Muktar Ramalan Yero was among the many Nigerian football fans who watched the final match of the Africa Nations Cup played on Sunday .
Yero who watched the match at the Kaduna NUJ Press Centre along with his aides told journalists immediately after the final match told he was happy with the Nigeria’s victory in the Johannesburg in South Africa.over the Burkinabe, whom he described as good losers of the final contest.
The governor who came to the centre few minutes before the commencement of the match and even said his Isha’i prayer (the final obligatory prayer of the day), recalled that it has taken Nigeria about 19 years before it came back to pick the trophy.
He noted that this was not only a great achievement to the Super Eagles players but the entire country.
He also observed that it is only sports in this country that is uniting the entire nation irrespective of where one comes from.He expressed the wish that this kind of unity could prevail in other aspects of Nigerians.
The governor, who celebrated Sunday Mba’s goal in the 40th minute also said nothing will stop his government from appreciating the Super Eagles if only the federal government will do same.
It will be recalled that nefore the last Sunday’s final, the Super Eagles of Nigeria won the Africa Nations Cup in 1980 and 1994, making the time to clinch the trophy.
