Breaking: Detained Premium Times journalist, Ogundipe granted freed on bail

Premium Times journalist who has been in police custody since Tuesday has been released on bail.
Samuel Ogundipe who covers the security sector was released on Friday morning by magistrate Abdulwahab Mohammed of Kubwa grade 1 Magistrate court, Kubwa, Abuja.
Mr. Ogundipe was arraigned by the police on Tuesday for refusing to disclose his source for a story that revealed a report by the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris submitted to Acting President Yemi Osinbajo.
The leaked report however, indicted the sacked Director General of the State Security Service, SSS, Lawal Daura for his role in the siege on the National Assembly complex last week.
The journalist was secretly arraigned to the court on Wednesday without a legal representation. The judge after the hearing granted a request by the police that the journalist should be in custody till August 20.
However on Friday morning, alongside with a legal representative Mr. Ogundipe was taken to the same court by the police.
According to Premium Times, the company’s lawyer argued for the bail of Mr. Ogundipe a request that was not opposed by the police counsel.
The judge granted the bail in the sum of N500,000 and a surety who most be a resident within the court jurisdiction.
Premium Times reporter who spoke with our Abuja correspondent said Mr. Ogundipe was released immediately when the bail condition was met.
