#TrackNigeria: The Peoples Democratic Candidate (PDP) for Kaduna Central Senate seat, Alhaji Lawal Adamu Usman has called on the peoples of zone not to allow their spirit to be dampened by the unfortunate development in which the ruling party allegedly stole the mandate of the people.

In a statement signed by Usman and made available to Newsdiaryonline Thursday, he said that February 23 presidential and National Assembly election was “saddening, embarrassing and ridiculous that the state government and the ruling party in the state went as low as to temper with the mandate” of the people.

The full statement

I am extremely delighted for this opportunity to meet my friends of the press today and to address the people of Kaduna Central Senatorial District and Kaduna State generally on the just concluded round of general elections.

Before delving into the nitty-gritty of the elections and our position with regards to the outcome, I wish to express my sincere gratitude first to the Almighty God for his continued guidance and protection all along.

I also wish to heartily thank the people of all the seven local government areas that make up my designated constituency for their support and understanding, and to sincerely appreciate the roles played by community elders and leaders, the youth, women and multitude of independent voters to ensure our victory at the polls.

We however find it saddening, embarrassing and ridiculous that the state government and the ruling party in the state went as low as to temper with the mandate voluntarily and collectively given by the people; a mandate freely given and universally acknowledged.

Consequent upon this, and for the avoidance of doubt, we state here that we are committed to exploring all available lawful, constitutional and democratic windows to ensure that the people’s stolen mandate is reclaimed and restored.

Accordingly, we hereby announce in categorical terms that we reject the process that led to the announcement of that manipulated, fabricated and concocted results, and call for their immediate cancellation.

Finally, we wish to reiterate the call for all the people of Kaduna State, and in particular the good people of Kaduna Central District not to relent in their democratic struggle for meaningful change in the state – a change we can see, feel and use – by coming out enmasse once again to assert their right to select leaders that would responsibly shape their future.

Notwithstanding the ugly and shameful act of desperation shown by the state government and the ruling party, we remain committed to the overall peace of the state and communal harmony based on our abiding faith that only God gives power to whomever He wills.
