Mr Ekene Uzodinma, Governorship Candidate of United Progressive Party (UPP) for Enugu State, says he plans to create jobs and industrialisation through agriculture and tourism, if elected in 2019.
Uzodinma said on Sunday that he had developed a blue print that would transform Enugu State economically.
According to him, “I intend to transform the economy of the state into a self-sustainable economy through industrialization which will in turn create jobs for our teeming jobless youths.
“My administration will pay so much attention in developing the agricultural potential of Enugu State such that we will feed ourselves.
“We can feed the entire South East as well as export our products to other parts of the world.
“Enugu State is richly blessed with beautiful landscape. Such landscapes as found in Ezeagu, Awgu, Nsukka and Udi are suitable for tourism.
“I will focus on developing the tourism potential of Enugu State when elected as governor come 2019 General Election,’’ he said.
He noted that his government would focus on creating an enabling environment for private businesses to thrive and support entrepreneurs to do business with ease in the state.
“In my administration, SME hubs will be set up to help young entrepreneurs build their businesses and support the economy by creating jobs,’’ he said.
Uzodinma also assured that his administration would have zero tolerance for corruption and primitive acquisition of wealth, adding that he would show open example of service and accountability.
According to him, “my government will be transparent and follow due process. This is what is grossly lacking in the Nigerian political landscape.”
The UPP candidate observed that every road infrastructure developed during his administration would stand the test if time.
He added that there was no point doing a road that would not live up to its expected life span.
“For me, it is a waste of our collective resources.’’ Uzodinma, who is also an agro-allied entrepreneur in Enugu State, said. (NAN)
