A 32-year-old unemployed man, Emmanuel Yakubu, was on Thursday docked in an Upper Area Court in Gwagwalada, FCT, for alleged wandering.
The police charged Yakubu, who resides in Doma Local Government, Nasarawa State with public nuisance.
The Prosecution Counsel, Mr Abdullahi Tanko, told the court that the complainant, Fabian Buter of Gwako II village Gwagwalada, reported the matter at the police station on Feb. 14.
Tanko said that the defendant was seen around 2 a.m. wandering around around Gwako village.
He said when questioned by the police, the defendant could not give satisfactory account of himself.
He said that the offence contravened the provisions of Section 183 of the Penal Code.
The defendant who pleaded not guilty, told the court:”I came to Abuja to hustle”.
The Judge, Sani Umar admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N50,000 with one reliable surety in like sum.
Umar ordered that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and must provide valid means of identification.
He said that the surety must provide two recent passport photograph and in default should be remanded in Nigerian Correctional Service custody in Suleja, Niger State.
He adjourned the case until March 23 for hearing. (NAN)
