Mr Fidelis Adaka, a former Vice President of the Nigerian Statistical Association, has called for more awareness campaign to attract more local and foreign participation in trade fairs across the country.
Adaka made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Asaba.
He said that aggressive campaign for full participation in trade fairs in Nigeria had become necessary because of the low turnout of manufacturers at recent trade fairs.
The statistician said that in the past, Lagos and Enugu Trade Fairs for instance, used to attract a good number of local and foreign participants, but in the recent past the turnout had been low.
Adaka noted that one of the reasons for organising trade fairs was to promote made-in-Nigeria goods to the outside communities.
“Trade fair is one of the easiest ways to promote the rich natural resources as well as boost economic activities of a country,’’ he said.
He also stressed the need for adequate funding of trade fairs to achieve better results. (NAN)
