Mr Sanusi Lamido Sanusi has emerged as the new Emir of Kano.Reports from Kano said the announcement of the new emir was made Sunday after serious deliberations on the names presented by the Kingmakers.
Sanusi Lamido succeeds the late emir Ado Bayero who died on Friday .
The emergence of Sanusi is full of ironic twists.He had always wished be emir but eventually became Governor of Central Bank of NigeriaCBN.He was shockingly suspended by the Goodluck Jonathan administration from office as CBN governor.
Before his suspension however, Sanusi who is also a blue blood had grabbed the traditional title of Dan Majen Kano.

But most Nigerians will recall that as CBN governor Lamido exposed what is today called $20billion missing oil money an allegation the regime is yet to recover from.In fact, it is believed that he was suspended because of his outspokenness.
He was even disallowed from travelling by the State Security Services,SS despite a court order stopping the President,SSS and all from infringing on his rights.
Now with his emergence as the emir of Kano, one of the most powerful tradtional institutions in the country,those who sacked him from Abuja may be forced to bow before him ,to curry favours.
A journalist from Kano rightly described Sanusi’s emergence as emir of Kano in the light of recent events as a “political coup”.
True.
Prior to the official announcement of Lamido, the ruling PDP had goofed when it congratulated son of the late emir as the new emir.The party issued a statement apologizing over its embarrassing statement.
