ECWA Church, Lemu Road Tudun Nupawa Kaduna on Sunday held one-year thanksgiving service in remembrance of the Late Senator Isaiah Balat who passed unto glory February Last year. Family, Friends and colleagues joined the congregation to pray for the repose of the soul of the deceased.
Vice President Mohammed Namadi Sambo was among those who attended the Memorial Service. He described the late Isaiah Balat as a great leader who was committed to the service of God and the love of humanity and personified hard work, perseverance, resilience, dedication and commitment.
“His life and character are an embodiment of courage and compassion. He rose to greatness by dint of hard work and the application of wisdom. He was a successful businessman and a great politician, a combination that is rare in mankind and has deployed this God-given talents and resources to uplifting humanity.” Said the Vice President
Arc Namadi Sambo who draws lessons from Revelations 21:4 prayed for the repose of the deceased and called on the congregation to emulate the good works and deeds of the late senator while setting aside prayer sessions for the deceased. He also urged family and friends of the colleague to take solace in the fact that God who took him away from them loves him most.
“We give grace to God Almighty, who gave him to us and also took him away. Though we greatly mourn the death of Senator Isaiah Balat, his memory shall continue to linger on forever in our hearts, we should take solace in the fact that though we love him but God loves him most.” He said
In his Message, Rev Yunusa Nmadu reminded the congregation that there was a time to be born and a time to die and that Isaiah Balat has lived and that today “we are given thanks after his departure from this sinful world” adding that everyone would not escape death and therefore should be prepared for this inescapable date.
The presiding clergy expressed the gratitude of the church to the Federal government for coming to their aid last month as the church had suffered destruction in the last post-election violence that engulfed about eleven local governments in the state. He reiterated their determination to promote peace and peaceful coexistence in the State.
Rev. Nmadu added that the church has been carrying out a lot of peace-building activities in its host community of Tudun Nupawa because of their firm belief in peace which is yielding fruits and urged governments at various levels to support such initiatives while calling on politicians to avoid hate campaigns and speeches capable of overheating the polity and causing the breakdown of law and order.
The clergy acknowledged the monumental successes being recorded by the armed forces against the insurgents. “By the Grace of God, we shall not only win the war but shall win the battles against the enemies our country, Nigeria” he said.
Those in attendance at the thanksgiving service include Governor Mukhtar Ramalan of Kaduna State, former Minister of Power Nuhu Way, immediate past GMD NNPC Andrew Yakubu, wife of the late Governor of Kaduna State Amina Yakowa and the deceased family amongst others.
