As Muslims prepare for Eid-el-Fitr any day the new month of Shawwal is sighted from today, Sokoto State Commissioner of Police (CP), Shuaibu Gambo has assured that adequate security arrangements have been made to safeguard lives and properties of citizens.
Speaking with Newsdiaryonline.com in Sokoto today, Gambo said that in view of the present security challenge, officers and men in the Command have been mobilized for the task of ensuring the protection of people’s lives and their properties against miscreants.
“We have mobilized our men for the onerous task of protecting the lives and properties of the citizens of the state. We are up to the task and our men have put on alert against any threat,” he said.
Gambo added that the people would not be allowed to gain assess to the Eid ground with their vehicles save the Governor and Sultan of Sokoto.
“This is to disallow congestion of vehicles, which could open up opportunities for those with evil minds,” he said urging vehicle owners to cooperate with the police in order to achieve the feat of ensuring efficient protection.
He called on the people of the state to continue to provide useful information for the police in order to rid Sokoto of crime.
