A Non-Government Organisation (NGO), Oveysha Foundation, has begun distribution of 1,000 exercise books to pupils across Nasarawa North Senatorial district of the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that some of the benefitting schools included Pilot Primary School Nassarawa-Eggon, Eggon Kyekyen Nursery and Primary School, Nassarawa-Eggon, all in Nassarawa Eggon Local Government Area of the state.
Mr Ovey Albert-Bashayi, founder of the NGO told newsmen on Monday in Nassarawa Eggon, that the distribution of the exercises book was part of his contribution to the development of education in the state.
Albert-Bashayi said that the books would help to reduce the burden on parents in sponsoring the education of their children.
“Today we have started the distribution of 1,000 exercise books to primary schools to complement government’s efforts in improving the standard of education in the state.
“Oveysha Foundation has embarked on different projects in the area of health, education, youths and women empowerment programmes.
“Last year, we embarked on free medical outreach and distributed wrappers to widows and the less privileged in the zone.
“All of these gestures are aimed at touching the lives of our people positively and to support parents in the education of their children as no society will achieve speedy development without sound education,” he said.
He called on parents to give priority to the education of their children in order to fulfil their dreams and contribute meaningfully to the development of the state and the country.
The NGO founder restated his commitment towards touching more lives in the state through various life-changing programmes. (NAN)
