#TrackNigeria The Lagos Airport Police Command says no fewer than 123 persons were charged to court for allegedly committing various offences at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos between January and July 2019.

The spokesman for the command, DSP Joseph Alabi, disclosed this in an interview in Lagos, on Friday.

Some of the suspects were charged with assault, stealing, obtaining by false pretenses as well as unlawful entry and touting, which contravene the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) bye Laws.

Alabi said the command made 184 arrests and secured 31 convictions within the period, adding that 21 persons were still under investigation while 26 others were awaiting trial.

He said the command was committed to making the airport and its environs safe and secure for travelers, airline operators and other airport users.

“The Lagos Airport has become safer for operations because of the security measures being put in place by the command, working in partnership with other sister agencies.

“We have been able to reduce touting and other nefarious activities within the airport and its environs, especially with the prosecution of suspects caught violating the law,” Alabi said.(NAN)
