A 50-year-old man, Rotimi Johnson, was on Friday docked in an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing his neighbour’s electronics.
The police charged Johnson, who resides in Ile-Ife with two counts of breaking and entry and theft.’
The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Sunday Osanyintuyi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Dec. 19, 2021 around 7. 10a.m at No. 50, Oranfe Street, Ile-Ife.
Osanyintuyi said that the defendant entered the house of Ms Deborah Ademola, his neighbour and stole stereo speaker, a Philips pressing and one electric kettle.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 383, 390(9) and 412 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Defence Counsel, Mr Martins Awe, applied for the bail fr his client in most liberal terms.
Magistrate O. B. Adediwura admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.
Adediwura said that the surety must swear to affidavit of means, resides within the court jurisdiction, and his address verified by the prosecutor.
She adjourned the matter until Feb. 18, for hearing. (NAN)
