In continuation of his visit to royal fathers in Osun State the President, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, while in Ijesha land sought the support and cooperation of the Owa Obokun of Ijesha Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran in his palace at ilesha.
The President was represented by the Vice President Arc Mohammed Namadi Sambo who extolled the virtues of the traditional institution in nation building. He noted that traditional rulers being the custodian of our culture and tradition were partners in progress with government .
He appealed to the Oba for his support and those of his subjects in the forth coming gubernatorial election in Osun state.
The royal father in his response noted that all contestants were their subjects but that Sen Iyiola Omisore was his son. He appreciated the federal presence in his domain but requested for more patronage in terms of siting projects. He assured that they will do the needful when the time comes as a mark of appreciation of government efforts in his domain.
Earlier the Vice President held a meeting with some community leaders in the state at the Ideal Nest Hotel in Oshogbo.
The leaders pledged their loyalty to the administration while promising to vote enmasse for the PDP come 9th August 2014.
Present at both meetings were the Governors of Delta, Gombe and Kaduna states, the PDP deputy national chairman Uche Secondus, special adviser political to Mr President Prof Rufai Alkali and other top PDP and government functionaries.
