The Inspector-General of Police, Mr Usman Baba, has directed the deployment of Mr Idrisu Dabban, as new Commissioner of Police (CP) in charge of Kastina State.
The Deputy Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Muyiwa Adejobi, made this known in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.
Adejobi said the deployment followed elevation of the erstwhile Commissioner of Police in charge of the state, Mr Buba Sanusi, to Assistant Inspector-General of Police.
He said that Dabban was appointed into the police force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police in 1990.
According to him, Dabban holds a Master’s Degree in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and has attended several leadership and strategic courses within and outside Nigeria.
The spokesperson said that the new police commissioner had served in various operational, investigative and administrative capacities within the force.
He said some positions he had served included; Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operations in Delta and Enugu states, Deputy Commissioner, State Criminal Investigation Department and subsequently CP in Kogi.
He noted that until his recent posting, Dabban was the CP Communications, Department of Information and Communication Technology, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
Adejobi reiterated the commitment of the police leadership in containing, prevailing and emerging crime trends in the state.
He urged the new commissioner of police to consolidate on the achievements of his predecessor.
He also advised the government and the people to give the new police chief maximum support in his new role, adding that the posting was with immediate effect. (NAN
