Ebola : Another Nigerian Nurse Contracts Disease

Another Nigerian nurse has been confirmed as the latest person who tested positive to Ebola virus.That brings the total number of confirmed cases of Ebola in Nigeria to 10 Professor Oyebuchi Chukwu,minister of health said.
Two of the victims have died including Mr Patrick Sawyer ,the Liberian who died after checking into a hospital in Lagos.The other dead victim was a nurse who attended to Sawyer.The doctor who attended to him is said to have contracted the disease as well.
Professor Chukwu has been keeping Nigerian regularly informed about the progress on the disease.Last week, he dismissed reports that salt solution was a cure.
President Goodluck Jonathan has also declared a national emergency on Ebola.His government also set aside a special fund to tackle the disease.
Yesterday, the Nigerian Medical Association ,NMA urged all doctors to get actively involved in the battle to tackle the disease.Whether the doctors will respond remains unclear because they are on strike.
Nigeria’s health minister said the latest Ebola victim was among the nurses who had primary contact with Sawyer in Lagos.Also,177 people are under Ebola watch in Nigeria he said.
