Former governor Attahiru Bafarawa has described the current manifesto of the Peoples Democratic party (PDP), formulated in 1998 as having outlived its usefulness.
Bafarawa who stated this during a chat with News men in Sokoto on Wednesday called for an urgent review of the party’s manifesto.
Observing that a manifesto is the cardinal principle, vision and mission of any party, he opined that “The proposed review is to ensure the manifesto of the party captures some emerging challenges which were not envisaged in 1998,”
Bafarawa further stated that the manifesto elucidates the lofty ideals, programmes and policies of any party as well as ensures party supremacy in any party.
He stressed the need for strong political parties that would have control on those elected under their platforms. “If the party is not strong, the government will not be strong,” he said.
