Not less than 16 persons were killed as a suicide bomber struck at a Mosque in Maiduguri on Saturday.The bomber struck at a mosque not far from city’s main market.Many others were inured.
The suicide bomb blast came just as the military and residents grappled with the overnight attack by Boko Haram.
Hundreds of Boko Haram terrorists reportedly attempted advancing on the state capital.They threw rocket propelled grenades into homes, eyewitnesses said.The military however told AFP that the attack had been repelled.
But just as the magnitude of Friday night’s attack was being determined, reports emerged of the latest suicide bomb blast at the mosque on Saturday.
Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno later visited the scene of the blast for an on-the spot assessment.
These renewed attacks came just after President Muhammadu Buhari signaled his intention to tackle Boko Haram.
Already he has directed that the military command centre of the battle should relocate from Abuja to Maiduguri seen as the epicenter of Boko Haram terrorism.
