The National Vice Chairman,North East of All Progressives Congress, Pastor Babachir David Lawal has said that his party was “massively rigged out” in last weekend’s presidential election in Taraba state. In a statement congratulating the President-elect ,General Muhammadu Buhari and the vice president elect, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, the national vice chair north east however urged his people not to despair.
“It is noteworthy that we were massively rigged out in Taraba State but I wish to encourage our people there not to despair at all because we are confident of recovering our stolen mandates in due course. We are sure that with an APC government at the centre, the Nigerian judicial system will have no choice but to be just and transparent in the conduct of the affairs of justice. Therefore the people of Taraba State should not despair at all.
Pastor Lawal who is also and engineer said “But for us to reap the full benefits of an APC Government at the centre, we must also have APC in government in the six states in our zone. This will facilitate coordination and planning of development and infrastructure projects that will have to be embarked upon by both tiers of government. An opposition government in any of the states will destroy this synergy and put any prospect of our rehabilitation, reconstruction and reconciliation in jeopardy. Therefore I call on all registered voters in the region to massively come out and cast their votes for the APC on Saturday, 11th April 2015.
He hailed the north east people “for the very overwhelming support they gave the All Progressives Congress in the Elections. The turn-out was very heart-warming indeed especially given the myriad of challenges we have been facing as people including the restriction of our movements to and from the Polling Units.
He pleaded that “in recognition of this immense contribution to the party’s victory, I want to seize this opportunity to call on the APC National Leadership to cede either the Senate Presidency or Speaker of the House of Representatives to the region where we have an abundance of talent and imminently qualified candidates for these position. This will set the region on a course of accelerated development that it so desperately needs.”
