Akwa Ibom Government said on Thursday that it would commence production test of a flour mill with a capacity to process 500 metric tonnes of wheat daily by July ennding.

Mr Charles Udoh, state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, who disclosed this to journalists in Uyo, said the mill was located in Mkpok-Okat, Onna Local Goverment Area of the state.

Udoh said that the establishment of the company, Kings Flour Mill, was one of the results of the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model adopted by Gov. Udom Emmanuel to attract investors to the state.

He noted that the factory, which, he said, was one of the best of its kind in the country, would create direct jobs for the youth and offer an expansive value chain for a lot more people.

“Gov. Emmanuel in May 2017 flagged-off the construction of a flour mill in the state.

“He assured the people that when the mill began production, it would have the capacity to employ more than 1,500 youths in the state,” Udoh said.

Mr Alper Yilmaz, the Project Manager of the company, also said the factory was set for test production which would commence by the end of this month.

Yilmaz noted that the fully automated Kings Flour Mill, had the capacity to process 500 metric tonnes of wheat and produce 400 tonnes of flour daily.

He said that the company had fixed production lines to deliver different sizes of well-packaged flour, including semolina. (NAN)
