Gunmen numbering about two hundred gunmen Tuesday reportedly attacked Tabanni village in Raba local government area of Sokoto state killing unspecified number of people in the process.
Other villages in the local government area were razed by the attackers with many residents displaced.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Sokoto Police Command, Cordelia Nwewe confirmed that the Commissioner of Police, Murtala Mani had move to the scene with government medical personnel.
She added that the number of affected persons would be made known when the CP returned.
