The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on Friday graduated its first set of 18 ab initio student pilots, and inaugurated 27 Student Pilots (SPs) on the newly-acquired Super Mushshak, in Kaduna.
The Chief of Training and Operations, AVM, Nurudeen Balogun said this during the graduation and inauguration of the pilots, and commissioning of Super  Mushshak Hangar at  401 Flying Training School, NAF base.
Balogun stated that the graduation of SP Course 43 and inauguration of SP Course 45 were indications of the premium placed on the realisation of the cardinal driver of the vision of the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar.
“Which is human  capacity development through robust and result-oriented training for enhanced professional performance.
“As a service, we can attest to the  upward  trend and commendable progress toward repositioning the NAF  to effectively defend the territorial integrity of Nigeria in the face of evolving security challenges,” he said.
Balogun who congratulated the graduating SPs, also urged the Inaugurated members of the SP 45 to work harder and brace  up for the task ahead.
”To the  members of SP 45 who have been inaugurated today, you have the singular privilege to witness this colourful graduation ceremony of your predecessors. I charge you to brace up for the task ahead so that you could witness same after the successful completion of your training,”he said.
The  Commander of the flying training school, Group Capt. Ahmad Dari, said  the school had trained over 800 pilots  for NAF  since its establishment.
Dari said the school started ab-initio flying training with Bulldog aircraft, then Air Beetle was conducted for ab-initio training in 1995.
“It is remarkable to note that student pilots within this period completed their ab-initio  training in record time as cadet as was seen in 2017, a feat that has not been attained for over 35 years. (NAN)
