The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Nasarawa State Council, has lauded Gov. Umaru Al-Makura, for appointing three journalists into various positions in the state.
The Chairman of NUJ in the state, Mr Dogo Shammah, gave the commendation in a statement he issued in Lafia on Friday.
Shammah listed the appointees as Mr Musa Elayo, the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Governor; and Mr Yahuza Idris, the Chairman of Lafia Local Government Interim Management Committee (IMC).
He named the third appointee as Mr Mohammed Alhassan, a member of the Karu Local Government IMC.
“The appointment of the three veteran journalists is a clear indication of the togetherness and love the governor has for journalists,” he stated.
The NUJ chairman described Al-Makura as the father of journalism in Nasarawa state.
He, however, urged the appointees to give their best in service to justify the confidence reposed in them as members of the fourth estate of the realm.
Shammah advised them to imbibe the spirit of transparency and accountability in service and be ambassadors of the journalism profession at all times.
NAN reports that before their appointments, Elayo, Idris and Alhassan worked for the Nasarawa Broadcasting Service (NBS), Nasarawa State Ministry of Information and the Nigerian Newsday respectively.
