The Top10 Magazine, a monthly magazine with focus on celebrating top10 leading lights from every sectors of the society has released the list of Nigeria’s ICT Top 10. The list is contained in the latest edition of the magazine which is dedicated to top 10 pillars of Nigeria’s ICT revolution.
Top of the list is Mike Adenuga, Founder and Chairman of Globalcom, Jim Ovia, Founder and Chairman of Cyberspace Network, Leo Stan Eke, Founder of Zinox Technologies and Task Systems Limited, Funke Opkeke, Chief Executive Officer of Main Street Technologies and the owners of Main one Cable.
Others are Austin Okere, Group Managing Director of Computer Warehouse Group, Mitchell Elegbe, Chief Executive Officer of Interswitch, Valentine Obi, CEO of e-transact, Demola Aladekomo, Founding father of the Chams Group Plc, John Obaro, Chief Executive officer of Systemspecs and the drivers of the TSA, Tim Akano, Managing director ,New Horizon Nigeria, a foremost IT training Institute.
In a news release, Tony Iji, the publisher and editor in chief of the Magazine said,“Our objective is to produce a reference document on 10 leading pillars of the information and communications technology industry who are strategic to Nigeria’s economic transformation” .He stated that the criteria for selection is based on pioneering effort, innovation, unique accomplishments and relevance of the operators’ offerings to the current technological needs of the Nigerian economy and overall contribution to the growth and development of the Nigerian ICT sector. Mr Iji stated that they decided to dedicate the current edition of the magazine to ICT in the realization that ICT holds the key to transformation of the society in the present digital world.
“Our focus is to identify Nigeria’s Top 10 Indigenous ICT operators who have contributed to changing the face of ICT in Nigeria”.
He said that “coming with a list of Nigeria’s Top 10 was a herculean task judging from the array of many accomplished players who have all distinguished themselves in one way or the other in contributing to the growth and development of ICT sector in Nigeria”.
He stated that “I must confess that since we started this journey of celebrating top 10 leading lights from every sector of the Nigeria society, the work on this edition was the most difficult task for us to undertake in terms of who is qualified to be on the top 10 list of the industry. But with painstaking survey, research and the help of some senior IT editors in Nigeria, we are able to come up with what we feel to be an objective final Top 10 list out of over 100 hundreds names that were earlier short listed”.
He also said that the final list is made up of men and women who have distinguished themselves in steering ICT growth and development in Nigeria. The Final Top 10 list covers leading players from Major areas of ICT services such as Telecommunications, internet, Hardware, Software, Networking Services, training, e-payment and e-commerce, card technology etc.
The statement concluded that the survey exercise is limited to indigenous private ICT investors with ownership structure tied to one individual private promoter.
