Ogun Alternate Medicine Board said on Wednesday that it would soon begin full vetting of alternate medicine practitioners in the state to rid the profession of quacks.
This is contained in a statement issued in Abeokuta by the chairman of the Board, Mr Balogun Olaleye.
He disclosed that the enforcement would begin in the third week of January.
Olaleye said that necessary measures have been put in place to ensure re-orientation and training for practitioners across the state.
He said the exercise would also enable the practitioners to grasp the basic guidelines prescribed by the Board.
According to him, it is imperative that all alternate medicine practitioners in the state be registered with the Board for effective monitoring and mentoring.
“We have been working with all the necessary security agencies and held meeting with key stakeholders on alternate medicine practice in the state.
“After due consultations with concerned bodies, from both government and private sectors, a date was fixed for the enforcement which will expose those that failed to register with the Board,’’ Olaleye said. (NAN).
