45 Feared Dead As Boat Capsizes in Nigeria

Reports from South Eastern Nigeria said about 45 people have  died as boat ferrying 166 people capsized .The boat was said to be heading towards Gabon after leaving Oron in Nigeria’s Akwa Ibom State.

Though a doctor in Calabar reportedly received about 45 dead bodies ,officials have  only confirmed the death of 9 people.

Yushau Shuaib ,NEMA spokesman  said Tuesday night  that rescue operation was  ongoing from a capsized boat 40 nautical miles off calabar. Few survivors rescued, some dead bodies recovered,he added.
