Reports from  Potiskum in Yobe State ,north  east Nigeria said two bomb explosions hit the market on Sunday.

Mallam Sani Abdu ,a trader in Potiskum Market told  Reuters the  bombs were detonated by  two ten year- old girls.

“I saw their dead bodies. They are two young girls of about 10 years of age … you only see the plaited hair and part of the upper torso,” he said.

Though no official casualty  figure was available,a source at the Potiskum general hospital  told Reuters  three  people  were killed as well as the suicide bombers and  46  others  were  injured.

The bomb explosions came a day after the military announced that it had stabilized the situation in Damaturu , the state capital.Boko Haram insurgents who attempted to occupy the state capital were repelled the military said.Five soldiers were seriously injured in the Damaturu operation.

The use of child female suicide  bombers  is becoming  a worrying phenomenon to local and international observers of the growing insurgency in Nigeria.

A foreign envoy asked on Sunday:what is it that motivates these girls? The envoy who was addressing Nigerian  journalists challenged  them to dig  deeper to unravel the mystery behind the rising  wave of child female suicide  bombers.

It could be recalled that  a 13 year old female suicide bomber, one of those   sent   to attack  Kantin –Kwari  Market in Kano said late last year,  it was her father that made her a suicide bomber. She failed to denonate her bomb after seeing what happed to her colleagues sent along with her .She was later apprehended by law enforcement officers in Kano.
