The Sokoto State Command of the Nigeria Police has confirmed the arrest of Managing Director of Pinnacle Hotel, along with five other staff of the hotel in connection with the alleged murder of a police inspector, late Nura Hashimu.
Late Hashimu, who was son of Hashimu Yauri, a police commissioner, according to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP El-Mustapha Sani, was alleged to have died following a beating he received from the security staff of the hotel on August 1st 2015.
“The deceased lodged in the hotel for about five days preceding the incident. The late officer was asked to leave the hotel after complaints by some of his neighbours in the hotel that the deceased room was always lousy,” Sani explained adding that although Hashimu had parked his luggage out of the hotel, he later returned angrily.
His return, the PPRO continued, brought about misunderstanding with the Managing Director of the hotel resulting in a fight between the two.
“It was at this juncture that the security staff of the hotel pounced on the deceased and gave him serious beatings. The late Officer was subsequently rushed to the Specialist Hospital, Sokoto where he was confirmed dead,” he said.
While Newsdiaryonline gathered that the corpse of the deceased was taken to Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital to ascertain the cause of his death, Sani said that the six suspects were detained at the state police command for further investigations.
