U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday said Pyongyang has not informed Washington about a possible cancellation of the planned summit in Singapore on June 12.

On Tuesday, South Korean media reported that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un threatened to cancel the summit because of U.S.-South Korean military exercises currently taking place.

“We haven’t been notified at all, we’ll have to see. We haven’t seen anything, we haven’t heard anything, we will see what happens,’’ Trump said.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders told Fox News earlier in the day that the White House is still hopeful that the Singapore summit between Trump and Kim will go ahead as planned.

On Tuesday, the State Department said it had not heard anything to indicate that the meeting would not proceed as planned and was continuing with preparations.

North Korea did, however, cancel talks scheduled for Wednesday with Seoul because of the Max Thunder military exercise.

The U.S. and South Korea launched a two-week annual air combat exercise on May 11.

About 100 aircraft, including U.S. F-22 Raptor stealth fighter aircraft, are participating in the drills that will last until May 25. (Sputnik/NAN)
