The Accountant General of the Federation, Alhaji Ahmed Idris has said transforming the Nigeria’s economy is key to the administration of President Muhammad Buhari.
He made this known during a three day retreat, titled, ‘Enhancing effective cash management : challenges and way forward organised by the office of the Accountant General of the Federation for members of the Technical sub -committee on cash management held in Kaduna on Monday.
According to him, the country is no doubt facing fiscal challenges that are gradually resulting in higher cash management uncertainties,saying,’ it has become imperative for the government to adjust.
“With respect to the Nigerian economy, it refers to efforts and measures adopted by the Federal government in cutting down public spending. You all at the Technical Sub -Committee level have shown uncommon character in achieving this goal”.
Represented by a Director General Office of the AGF, Dr. Ishaya Awotu, the Accountant General maintained that transforming the Nigeria’s economy is key to the administration of President Muhammad Buhari,saying, in doing this, the restructuring of public governance operations for increased effectiveness calls for process re-engineering as well as individual and public re-orientation in our cash management strategies and abilities.
In his good will message at the occasion, the state commissioner for finance, Suleiman Abdu Kwari said the retreat was very apt.
According to him, at the state level, the government of Mallam Nasir El-rufai has adopted some public finance (control and management law which provided the setting up of a State Treasury Single Account and fiscal responsibility law which provided for a prudent public expenditure, financial management and discipline with a view of ensuring macroeconomic stability in Kaduna state.
