Swear-in Nwoye Now ! CNPP Urges Tambuwal

tambuwalspeakerThe Conference of Nigerian Political Parties has urged Speaker of the House Reps,Aminu Tambuwal to swear in Comrade Tony Nwoye as a member of the House.

The text of a press conference addressed by Alhaji Balabe Musa,chairman of CNPP today said “we challenge Rt. Hon Aminu Tambuwal to swear-in Tony Nwoye forthwith; less his rising profile will be tainted by unholy alliance with known anti-democrats”

Musa said ,”Conference of Nigerian Political Parties {CNPP}, has deemed it fit and proper, to challenge the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Aminu Tambuwal, to,without any further delay or procrastination, Swear-in, Comrade Tony Nwoye as a member of House of Representatives for Anambra East/West Federal Constituency.

“We are outraged that Rt. Hon Tambuwal, whom a lot of Nigerians see as a true product of democratic struggle, given the way he emerged Speaker of the House of Representatives, against the stiff opposition from those who, in error, believed that they have the right and authority to decide who gets what in Nigeria.

The statement said “We make bold to state categorically, that this same man [Tambuwal], whom many of our people look up to as an exemplary character out of the rot in the system; has regrettably shown that he is more or less in league with those who have continued to defy the culture of impunity in our country.

“Otherwise, how come the highly rated Rt. Hon. Tambuwal, against his oath of office and at variance with the Code of Conduct, descended into the arena, clinging on none existing Court Order, thereby blatantly subverting the laws of the land by refusing to swear-in Comrade Tony Nwoye in the face of glaring evidences.

CNPP said “For the avoidance of doubt, on 13th July 2012, a Federal High Court [FHC] Order of Mandamus/Judgment which mandated INEC to issue Nwoye Certificate of Returns in obedience to Supreme Court Judgment of 9th June 2012 –No SC/69/2012, Prince John Emeka v. Lady Margery Okadigbo, which held that Hon. Chriscarto Ameke and others who never participated in the 2011 general elections.

“16th July 2012 INEC’s Certificate of Return, issued consequent of the Order of Mandamus.

“Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/496/2012-a suit filed by Chriscarto Ameke challenging INEC for issuing the Certificate of Returns to Nwoye, which was struck out for abuse of court process.

“4th March 2013 letter by the Director of Legal Services, National Assembly, advising the Speaker to swear-in Nwoye.

“Advice of 4 (Four) Man Panel set up by House leadership headed by the Chief Whip, Hon Bawa, which recommended that Nwoye be sworn-in.
