Skybird incident: Abuja Airport runway reopened

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has reopened the Runway at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja to take arrivals and departures, subject to a reduced threshold of 3000metres.
A statement by the General Manager, Corporate Affairs,  Yakubu Henrietta said the Runway 22 at the Airport was closed on Wednesday “at about 2200hours due to an incident that involved a Gulfstream 4 aircraft being operated by Skybird.
“The aircraft overshot the Runway while landing and consequently got stuck on the Runway End Safety Area (RESA),” it stated.
The Authority assured airlines and passengers that the airport wa safe for normal operations.
