Rivers TUC Commends Ukiwe, Others

The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) Rivers State Council has expressed  gratitude to all participants in its successful 4th Triennial State Delegate Conference(SDC) held in Hotel Presidential, Port Harcourt on January 31, 2013.The event which was well- attended by important dignitaries across the country, amongst other things, featured the election of new Executive Council that will direct the affairs of the Congress for the next three (3) years.

“We are particular thankful to the Chairman of the SDC, His Excellency, Commodore Ebitu Ukiwe GCON (RTD) (former Chief of General Staff/Vice President, Federal Republic of Nigeria) for his dignified presence and for adding colour and grace to this event.We are very thankful to our Labour-friendly Governor, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi CON, Executive Governor of Rivers State who was ably represented by Mrs.Ibim Semenitari Hon. Commissioner for Information at the SDC, for  the cordial relation that exists between the Government of Rivers State and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria(TUC) Rivers State.

The statement continued,“We cannot thank you enough our TUC President General, Comrade Peter Esele whose presence, as always, added impetus to the event. We also thank TUC President General Comrade Peter Esele  for nominating our State Chairman Comrade Chika Onuegbu as a member of the National  Organising Committee for the TUC National  Delegates’ Conference scheduled for June 27 2013 at FCT Abuja.

“ Firm in our mind is the Guest Speaker Dr. Udenta O. Udenta whose indept and incisive eloquent analysis on the topic “Building the Nigeria of our Dream”, sufficiently educated the audience.

“We are also grateful to the sole administrator, Rivers State Environmental Sanitation Authority, Mr. Ade Adeogun, for his basic lessons on the drive to keep Rivers State Clean. We also appreciate the Presence of M.G Dabibi Former Secretary General, TUCN; Comrade Musa Lawal Esq, the Acting Secretary General TUC; Comrade Aliyu Musa, TUC Chairman FCT Abuja and Comrade Christopher Aharanwa, Chairman of TUC, Imo State for their Solidarity.

The statement also congratulated and pledged  support to the newly elected executives.It also expressed gratitude  to the government and management of the following Corporate Institutions for identifying with us: Government of Rivers State, Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity,  Michael Imuodu National Institute of Labour Studies, Indorama Eleme Petrochemicals Limited, Federal  Airport Authority of Nigeria, Nigeria LNG Limited, Presidential Hotel, Pabod Breweries Limited, Port Harcourt Flour Mills Ltd,  Property Development Company (Prodeco), Ponticcele, Port Harcourt ,Emohua Local Government Council ,Port Harcourt Refinery Company, etc.

“We specifically thank all the State Delegates, observers and other well- wishers whose excellent and civilized behaviour stood elegant during the event. We appreciate you and will ever do.

“We also pray Almighty God to bountifully reward all those that identified with us.

“We want to assure all Nigerians that we will continue to stand by the people. We also we urge every Nigerian worker and indeed every Nigerian to organise and build solidarities across the entire spectrum. Here lays our strength as a people and as workers that are genuinely committed to building the Nigeria of our dream.
