The President of the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria, Lagos State Area Unit, Kaamil Kalejaiye, has said that the 2015 joint breaking of fast programme was organised to portray the essence of unity in Nigeria.
Kalejaiye said this in a statement to announce an Iftar programme expected to host 1000 muslims on Thursday at Zumratul Islamiya Central Mosque, Atan Street, Yaba. Lagos.
According to him, the Iftar was aimed at feeding Muslims, promoting brotherhood and supplicating for Allah’s mercy.
While enjoining Muslims to seek repentance against sins and move closer to Allah during the holy month, Kalejaiye hoped that the Iftar 1000 would be the largest in Nigeria.
He said, “We are doing this singularly for the sake of Allah. However, this will go a long way to unite Muslims and Nigerians in general. Our coming together will also encourage love and tolerance that we want Nigerians to emulate. The fasting month has a lot of benefits in it and we must tap into these opportunities.
“Apart from the heart lifting lecture and admonition, the Iftar 1000 will also give us opportunity to join our voices together to supplicate for Allah’s intervention in the country’s affair and individual needs. We urge all fasting muslims to storm the venue of the programme with the intention to becoming a better person when returning home, in terms of religious uplift.”
Kalejaiye, however, solicited with fasting Muslim in states, where workers were been owed their salaries and gratuity for months, praying that Allah won’t leave the workers in their plight to serve him.
“We sincerely feel the pains of Nigerians, our parents and members who are fasting and are not paid their allowances. We pray that Allah, the all provider will not let them down by guiding their survival throughout and beyond the fasting period,” he prayed.
