“All I am telling you is that Oyinlola in the face of the law, remains the authentic secretary of the PDP. Anybody in that office for now, is a pretender.”
That was the statement made by the ex governor of Osun and former national secretary to the PDP, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola when asked about his alleged plan to defect to the opposition All Progressives Congress,APC.
He made this declaration after attending a meeting in the State House on Tuesday with President Goodluck Jonathan and PDP Chairman Dr Ahmadu Mu’azu .
When asked what the meeting was about, he said: “I was taken to the Villa by the chairman of the party, PDP, and we had some discussions as to how to move the fortunes of the party forward.”
Oyinlola, who was axed from office during Bamanga Tukur’s era has become like a thorn in the flesh of the party.
He has not been allowed to assume office despite a court ruling reinstating him.Yet the party seemingly cannot ignore him.
And , as the governorship election in Osun draws closer, chieftains of the All Progressives Congress as well as the PDP have been wooing him.He is seen an influential politician in the state.
The recent victory of PDP in Ekiti State may have further boosted the party’s resolve to resolve any differnces with Oyinlola.
How far this rapprochement will go remains to be seen.
