Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Tuesday in Bauchi inaugurated the National Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) Clinics in Bauchi, reiterating the commitment of the Federal Government to fight poverty and corruption.
He said government was determined to provide an enabling environment for businesses to thrive, especially by rendering assistance to financially handicapped individuals to start small scale businesses.
“SME’s are the growth of any nation; there are great potentials that are available. Anybody that wants to engage in small business will be empowered to do so.
“We are confident that if we do not spend anyhow, if we have a government where people can be positively impacted on, we are assured that things will go on well.
“The State is working actively with us so that the people can get all they need to get established; I believe that we can all work together to make Nigeria economically viable,” he said
According to him, Federal government has introduced several projects that will reduce poverty and create employment for youth and other Nigerians.
“We are indebted to the man on the streets and we will work to ensure that the poorest man gets the best,” Osinbajo said.
He commended people of the state for their interest in business activities, adding that “Bauchi has the best entrepreneur in Nigeria.”
Earlier in his remark, Gov. Mohammed Abubakar said his administration had embarked on various programmes aimed at providing employment.
He said over 30,000 persons benefited from various skills acquisition programme of the state government.
He said the state government had embraced and adopted some of the programmes initiated by the federal government aimed at providing employment and ensuring economic development.(NAN)
