Ogun Assembly election: NANS campaigns for member

#TrackNigeria: The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has advised its members in Ogun to support the political aspiration of Mr Wasiu Igbalaye, to enable him win Ogun House of Assembly, Abeokuta South Constituent election.

Igbalaye is contesting the election on the platform of the Labour party (LP).

Mr Adeyemi Amoo, the National Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the association,gave the advice in a statement in Abuja on Saturday.

Amoo commended Igbalaye, an MSc, Business Administration student, University of Lagos, for the role he played as Director of Campus Affairs in NANS, by paying school fees of some students.

He said: “The national leadership of NANS, after watching with keen interest, resolved to drum support for our own member, Igbalaye, contesting for the Ogun House of Assembly, Abeokuta South constituency.

‘Igbalaye used to be an active member of NANS, with remarkable leadership records in the history of the association, at the state and national levels.

“It is on record that during his days as Director of Campus Affairs, he sourced and paid school fees of many less privileged students across campuses, donated first aid boxes across campuses, from time to time and provided needed drugs for students.

“NANS enjoins all well meaning Nigerian youths and students to embrace Igbalaye’s struggle toward clinching the legislative seat of Abeokuta South and be a member of the Ogun House of Assembly.”

Amoo said this would stand as an assurance of a secured interest of the Nigerian youths and students at the state Assembly.

The national public relations officer also lauded the contestant for the key role he played in making “Not too Young to Run Bill“ a reality.

He appealed to residents of Abeokuta South to support Igbalaye, as one of the ways in appreciating the efforts of Nigerian youths and students in sustaining and protecting the democracy in the country.

Meanwhile, in a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja Amoo said, NANS was made up of all categories of students of higher institutions of learning, up to those pursing Phd degrees. (NAN)
