Dr Nurudeen Mohammed has been assigned to take charge of Nigeria’s Ministry of Information as President Goodluck Jonathan embarks on a minor cabinet shake up.Before his reassignment,Mohammed was the Minister of State (Two) in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.He is from Jigawa State.
The reshuffle came on the heels of the resignation of some ministers to pursue their political ambitions in their respective states .Those who resigned include: Labaran Maku , Samuel Ortom , Emeka Wogu, Nyesom Wike , Musiliu Obanikoro , Dahiru Isiaku and Onyebuchi Chukwu .
Minister of Defence,General Aliyu Gusau is to take full charge of the ministry. In the same vein, Olusegun Aganga, , Dr Haliru Alhassan and Dr. Steve Oru will take effective charge of the Ministries of Trade and Investment, Health and Niger Delta, respectively .
These reshuffle was announced by Dr Mohammed after this week’s Federal Executive Council meeting in Abuja .He said also that Tanimu Turaki,minister of special duties has been moved to take charge of the Ministry of Labour and Productivity.In the same vein, Professor Viola Onwuliri ,minister of state (One) the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been reassigned to the Ministry of Education as Minister of State.
The ministers given supervisory roles as announced Wednesday are to work there in acting capacity till new ministers are appointed .
