Hosts El-Kanemi Warriors Football Club of Maiduguri and Enyimba International FC of Aba on Sunday drew goalless in a Match Day 7 fixture of the 2017/2018 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
The visiting Enyimba surprised the hosts with good resilience from the first blast of the referee’s whistle in the match played at the El-Kanemi Warriors Sports Centre in Maiduguri.
Both teams showed the urge to outplay one another though, with the home team piling much of the pressure on the visitors in the early minutes of the first half.
For their reward, they gained a penalty kick in the 42nd minute, which Bello Kofar-Mata lost.
Anthony Obaseki, the Media Coordinator of El-Kanemi Warriors, said the match’s result was okay but not what was expected.
He appealed to the club’s fans to be patient as the club management was working towards making them proud at the end of the league competition.
“We are expected to go to Enugu to face Rangers on Feb. 11, while on Feb. 15 Go Round FC will face us in Maiduguri here,” the club spokesman said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri have so far played seven matches both home and away this season in the league.(NAN)
