The lingering crisis rocking the Nigeria Labour Crisis over the elections of successors to the Abdulwaheed Omar led congress blew out of control on Thursday as violence ensued at the international Conference Centre Venue of this year’s delegates Conference.
Reports said delegate went on rampage disrupting the election process.Ballot papers were scattered all over in the ensuing melee.Also, the delegates were seen hijacking as well as destroying ballot boxes .And all those around began to seek safe havens.
The police have taken control of the venue, reports said just as the NLC leaders are said to be holding a meeting in order to sort out the differences.
Newsdiaryonline learnt that crisis was hinged on the plot to ensure that anointed candidates got elected.In fact, long before the delegates conference ,there were fears that moves were being made to change the rules.
When this question was put to outgoing NLC President Omar in an exclusive interview with Newsdiaryonline, ed denied any attempt to change the rules.
But on Wednesday, insiders to Newsdiaryonline that crisis was looming as some delegates had staged a walk out.
It was not exactly clear what sparked today’ s disruption of the elections but it is safe to state that insiders saw it coming.
