According to her, Shagari was an elder statesman with worthy and commendable records in the nation’s history.
”The death of the former President has robbed the country of a detribalised, honest, humble, God-fearing and patriotic leader.
”We urge the family members, the people of Sokoto State and Nigeria to take solace that the former president lived a good life worthy of emulation,” she said.
Shoda recalled that Shagari’s administration brought numerous developments to the country.
“The administration of Shagari did well in various sectors of the economy and that is why poverty and unemployment were low then in the country,” she said.
The council called on leaders at all levels to emulate the good qualities of the late elder statesman.
“Death is an inevitable price we will all pay at an unknown time individually,’’ she added.
