Reports from Benue State said at least 35 people were killed in Agatu villages as fresh fighting erupted Saturday.People fleeing from sacked Villages accused cattle rearers of launching the attacks.
Sporadic fightings in the Agatu villages are believed to have resulted in the loss of at least 200 lives this year alone ,reports say.
Mr John Ngbede ,Benue State Commissioner for Works reportedly confirmed this latest violence thus:”It is true that Agatu is boiling at the moment.Many people are feared dead .I can’t confirm the exact number right now”.
He had earlier appealed to security operatives to brace up amid reports reaching him that unidentified gun men were moving towards Agatu villages.
An official has reportedly denied involvement of Fulani cattle rearers in the attacks on Agatu villages.
